July class records three part psychedelic saga - a must listen!

Our July class recently completed a session with local psychedelic artists Groon. For this session the students were challenged with a live off the floor session with the three members - they met the challenge head on and produced one of the most memorable sessions of their careers to date. This three part track was no small feat, and the students produced an extremely cohesive and clear mix - well done guys!

Local Music Critic Talks with AAR Students

We have started a new class at The Alberta Academy of Recording!!

Last week, local music critic Wilhelm Princeton, whose works are published regularly across North America, came in to speak with the students about mixing from a critics point of view. Discussion topics included the evolution of mixing, genre specific mixing,
how a mix impacts a critique & audience, current and emerging industry trends, mastering, the business of mixing and so much more! Wilhelm gave the students an unbiased, and uncensored view into the world of critiquing, and mixing music, as well as some tips on how to get into the industry and what the next industry wave is going to be.
Thank you Wilhelm for lending us your expertise!

Last week the students were assigned a Commercial Recording Project, in which they had to write, voice and provide all the sound design for an original product of their choice.

Dave & Braeden decided upon a store of their creation - 'Rasta Bob's Emporium', they provided all of the sound effects, voices, and well as the composition heard in the add - this proved to be a very entertaining, but productive project - Great job guys!

Big News!!

Current student of the Alberta Academy of Recording, Dave Jamieson, has just started his career in the Audio Engineering industry working as an Engineer at local post production facility Bluewater Studios in Calgary, AB

AAR personnel recommended this young student immediately after being contacted by Bluewater, who was looking for an ambitious, motivated, and dedicated Engineer to fill this position - less than a few hours later Dave was on his way to Bluewater for his interview, and shortly after was offered the position. He will be running his first dialogue replacement sessions, and flying solo in Bluewater Studios within the week.

With Dave's ear for production, as well as talent behind the controls I have no doubt that he will excel quickly within the industry, and has a long, prosperous career ahead of him.

Kudos to Dave on getting a head start on his career, and taking the first step to living his dream!

We wish you all the best, and know we can expect great things to come from this rising star.
